Finding Out About Cloud Technology Used By Companies

By Brittnye J. Lewis

Any software and computer program that can be opened via the internet is a part of cloud technology. The term, cloud, comes about for this internet based service because there is no hierarchy for the information stored in the cloud and it can be accessed from just about anywhere with an internet connection. Spreadsheet creation, video and sound editing and even VoIP are all services that can be provided to users through the cloud. Users will find that the cloud is incredibly easy to work with and that it can be used for a large number of purposes.

Computer servers with web access are used to hold much of the information that is contained within a cloud, both data and computer software. The sole purpose of the computer server is to store and process information to be accessed by other computers. These servers hold a lot of valuable information, so they are usually kept in a secure area. Nonetheless, these servers are capable of storing and processing way more information than the standard home computer. Some web servers designed to host websites are capable of handling up to 80,000 visitors at a time. A large variety of other services can be provided by these complex computers such as, word processing and data sorting.

A few cloud-based services are free and some are paid subscriptions. One of the most well-known free cloud-based services is Google Docs. Google Docs can be accessed through a Gmail account and provides users with free word processing, spreadsheet and presentation creation. Users can even store their data online. Google, like most cloud services also allows users to download their data to their home computers. Other paid services such as, Crexendo, provide businesses with cloud business communication at a low monthly fee.

Almost any computer can be used to access a cloud. Internet access is really all that is considered necessary to access the cloud. Using complicated software on a computer need not mean you have to worry about updating hardware or RAM. The processing for all applications provided by the cloud is done on the cloud server and then sent to the user's computer. Since the more powerful computer server does all of the work, cloud technology can be accessed a computer with very restricted processing.

The cloud helps out businesses a great deal when it comes to accessing and using data. All of the necessary information and software is kept on secured servers in an offsite location that is accessible through the web. Even if the cloud is made private and can only be accessed via work computers, it will help workers to complete projects more quickly by providing concurrent access to files and applications. Also, cloud service providers like Crexendo are able to help out with vital business communication services.
