A gourmet gift basket was the perfect way to cheer up my poor aunt when she had an accident and fractured her ankle. She had a heavy load of laundry in her hands on her way to the clothesline when she had a bad fall and broke her left ankle. Happy, her Yorkshire Terrier was lying in the grass taking a nap when my aunt, view blocked by the height of her piled clothing, tripped on him and hit the ground, strewing her fresh laundry all around. And, of course, she ended up breaking her ankle really badly and had to endure a few days in the hospital.
She was really embarrassed about it and claimed that she didn't want anyone to visit her. We, of course, knew that this was just posturing and decided that we would visit and bring her a gift basket. It may sound weird, but no one in the whole family had ever been involved in the purchase of gourmet gift baskets prior to this. We all figured that we could get what we required from the gift shop in the hospital. In spite of our plans, there was nothing in the gift shop that would meet our requirements.
Auntie would have been very unhappy is we had had the gall to bring her one of those lame gift shop baskets. We determined that it might work to drive to a local flower shop and pick up something there. We ended up not going to see Auntie right then, instead going to the store. We got there in record time, but the flower shop was a bust as they had a lot of flowers, but not really any gourmet gift baskets like the ones we had in mind.
We made our trip back to the hospital with our tails between our legs with a meager bouquet for Auntie. Her reaction when she got it was that it was pleasant, but that the flowers would be dead soon. We spent a long time grousing about the situation when we got back to our house. But with a flash of insight, I thought that it would be a great idea to look online. Within minutes, we found a website that had anything we could ever want.
There were so many baskets to choose from, including baby gift baskets, Christmas gift baskets, corporate gift baskets, holiday gift baskets, and several specialty theme baskets that I quite liked. We bought one for Auntie and she enjoyed it!
