Flushing Out Your Brain with Fresh Perspective on Internet Marketing & Your Business

By Joanne Oneill

The people that succeed in their field are generally those who have branded themselves effectively. Giving people value and being real is vital because a name isn't enough. Despite having everything they need, from a great skill-set to know-how, there are many people who are only known by their friends and family. There are ways to become established in your industry, and you do not have to be the top dog to be established, either. So here are some ideas and suggestions for you to think about and do.

You have heard about branding, and this is something that will work out well in most niches. Of course it helps a lot if you build your site and overall image so it can benefit from branding. No matter what you are doing, all you need is a core or central idea or topic around which you develop your brand. The one thing you must have is credibility, and then you work to protect your brand and reputation. You will want to do most of your brand marketing at social media outlets and for obvious reasons. Once you understand and see the process in action, then you will know how to branch out from social media while still using it.

It is necessary for you to be very outspoken if you want to be someone on Twitter. Rather than post things like rants, which is very popular it seems, you have to take bold positions. Your opinions have to be relevant to your niche audience, and then you have to talk about things that matter to them. It is not important to be just bold - you have to be much more. It is important that you are bold about the issues relative to your audience that subscribes. Then you can send them to your content which is where you will need to support your claims that got their attention in the first place.

Anyone selling something, just a couple years ago, was using Twitter DM direct message to do it. This of course is not worth your time to even try anymore. So we do not support that practice of sending what is very close to an unsolicited email in the form of a DM. Your followers are not like e-mail followers. They are going to be less connected than you can possibly imagine. What you need to do at Twitter is be viewed as some kind of expert or very knowledgeable person. You won't have to worry about getting the attention of your followers once you are an expert - they will simply be there from that point on.

The above recommendations aren't hard, but they are ones that many online marketers may not want to implement. If you're willing to try them, though, you'll find that they can really help your business get more publicity. Plus you need to have some confidence in yourself to pull them off. It's up to you whether you want to make your business more newsworthy or if you're content to stay hidden.
